Is anyone doing any work in the area of LBS apps, communities or anything? I am looking at designing LBS games and keen on ideas.

We're going to be developing ad-hoc bluetooth apps for supporting mobile communities of backpackers. There's loads of people doing LBG stuff around, not sure if any on this group.

Sounds good. One of my friends is putting together WiFi networks for backpackers in New Zealand.

I was worked on a LBG prototype called the digital dragon boat race www.mobilemuse.ca in vancouver, bc. I use to think that browser/platform compatibility between ie and netscape, pc and mac was bad…….. but it's nothing compared to the – the variables involved in designing for the different cell pones/pdas, carriers, and the way content renders through all. the queen of LGB is deb polson, austraila

Hey urban, that looks really cool. We haven't gained much traction, but are looking at a spatial treasure hunt using real time maps delivered to mobiles and PDA's and also mobile communities such as a beer branded happy hour where your phone tells you that you are in the vicinity of a bar with a happy hour deal on your favourite drink and how to get to it.

hi Luigi, You know - I think they had something like a treasure hunt pub crawl going on at the DIGRA conference last year www.digra.org/digra_conference. Are you a developer?

          Hi Urban

Thanks for the link, I found an interesting paper on it. We are a mapping company in New Zealand. We provide maps for printed map companies, givernment departments, local bodies, maps and directions for Vodafone mobile phones, mapping data for in-car navigation and fleet management solutions such as VDO Dayton and Navman and also web based mapping services such as www.aasmartmap.co.nz, which is not dissimilar to Google Maps, but it is all our own development. We are constantly developing new solutions based around our extensive mapping data.
